Welcome to CEVA Community Development Organization

CEVA Community Development Organization is a fully registered community-based organization with Registration No: 8004843969955 under Section 18(3) of the Companies Act 2012. CEVA CDO was formed to empower Youth and Women with knowledge and skills in handling and addressing their day-to-day life challenges. CEVA – Stands for Citizen Education, Voice & Action whereby if Citizens are informed and aware of the policies, rights and responsibilities, they can jointly raise their voices and a lot can be done by the responsible stakeholders or duty bearers in order to address the diverse community challenges.

The idea of forming CEVA was initiated by Mr. Kyakuva Joshua Robert, a professional social work with his friends in 2019 after realizing a number of community challenges which needed to be addressed through community awareness and mindset change, togetherness and team work, partnership and coalition. He thus came up with the idea of forming CEVA, to create a fora and platform where community members shall be sensitized and empowered to advocate for their rights and address the would-be challenges affecting them.

Advocacy

We conduct community gatherings, sensitize communalities on policy issues, about their rights and responsibilities, so that they can be in position to demand for social accountability from duty bearers.

Youth & Women Empowerment

CEVA sensitizes people and strives to create mindset change. We believe that people go through lots of challenges but together we can thrive and be resilient to certain situations.

Support to the Vulnerable Children and Women

CEVA identifies vulnerable children, orphans, widows, child mothers and elder persons. We do home visits to confirm and take records.

Fighting violence against women

In our community, there are rampant cases of gender and domestic violence where women are oppressed by men and end up being tortured. We struggle to put an end to this.

Saving and loan associations

Economic empowerment by saving and engaging in income generating activities like vegetable growing, poultry keeping, rabbit keeping among others.

Environmental & water conservation

Environmental issues like deforestation and climate change threaten not only the planet’s health but also the long-term viability of businesses across industries.

Mr. Kyakuva Joshua Robert is a professional social worker, public administrator, a teacher and an enterpreneur. He holds a Masters Degree in Public Administration and Management, a Postgraduate Diploma in Public Administration and Management, a Degree in Social Work and Social Administration, Certificates in Information Technology, Teaching, Entrepreneurship, Guidance and Counselling.

In 2019/2020, Mr. Joshua, while working as a Volunteer with World Vision in Mayuge district came across a number of community challenges most of which were resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic like early school drop-outs, early marriages and teenage pregnancies, HIV/AIDS high prevalance rates, poor sanitation and hygiene, child labour, gender based violence and abuse of human rights, among others.

In order to address the above challenges, Mr. Kyakuva Joshua came up with an idea of forming an organization where people can jointly come together and speak with one voice to solve the would-be challenges impacting their daily lives.
